Golf's the business

BUSINESS motorists have voted the Volkswagen Golf as their favourite company car.

For the third year in succession, the German family hatchback and estate car range has been named Car of the Year by ACFO, the business transport organisation.

Based on the real world operating experience of 800 member companies running more than 500,000 vehicles, the coveted award was presented by ACFO chairman Julie Jenner to Volkswagen UK head of fleet services Vincent Kinner at an event in London.

Says Mr Kinner: 'This award means a great deal to us because it represents the views of our customers. In a challenging market, it bears testament to the inherent strength of sustained popularity of the product among both fleet and retail buyers.

"The Golf has enjoyed a very strong year in 2009 and, with record order banks, we're expecting an even stronger performance in 2010,' he added.

And according to Ms Jenner: 'This award represents the true face of fleet operations, rather than showroom appeal.'
