East Ayrshire Sports Council award winners revealed

SPORTING stars of the future were among the proud recipients of prizes at the East Ayrshire Sports Council awards evening held at Kilmarnock’s St Joseph’s Academy.

The ceremony recognised the contribution made by East Ayrshire’s sport coaches and leaders as well as the area’s most talented athletes.

Recognition was given to Clare Johnston of Auchinleck Indoor Bowling Club and Graeme Kane and Peter Kirkbride of Kilmarnock Amateur Weightlifting Club for being selected to represent Scotland at the 2012 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Councillor John Campbell, East Ayrshire’s Depute Provost said: “The Sports Council awards evening was a great success and I would like to congratulate all the finalists in gaining their awards.

“They represent our sporting hopes for the future and should be extremely proud of their achievements.”
