MTV FanWalker Richy Muirhead is back home after an unforgettable few days in Germany.
The 20-year-old Kilmarnock music student was one of 100 music-mad young people who walked the 300km from Hamburg to Berlin for the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Said Richy, of Carron Avenue: “It was the most challenging and rewarding time of my life – I’ll never ever forget it.”
The former Kilmarnock Academy pupil said the routine the specially selected group had to follow each day was both lengthy and tiring, but also ‘amazing’.
“There was never much free time,” said Richy. “We were up at 6am and on the go all the time until late at night.
“Every day we were in a different part of Germany with all sorts of weather conditions.
“Sometimes we stayed in a hostel with cold showers, yet on other days it was a 5-star golf hotel with saunas and huge bedrooms.
“For a whole week it was just a different lifestyle for me and since I got back at the weekend I’ve found it incredibly difficult to get back into my ‘normal’ routine.”
En-route to the Sony Ericcson/MTV EMA celebrations in Berlin Richy and the others in the group took part in everything from canoeing to spacehopper racing to karaoke challenge sessions!
“We also went to the aftershow party and partied with stars such as Fatboy Slim,Dave Guetta, The Backstreet Boys, Daniel Merriweather and Batista,” said Richy.
“I performed my cover song to FanWalkers. It was filmed and then I did a live MTV Germany interview 2008.”
Richy said that one of the numerous highlights of the memorable walk was meeting and making friends with so many like-minded music fans.
He said: “We all got on great together and I’m sure I’ve made some new friends for life.”
In fact around 70 of the FanWalkers from all over Europe have already said they’ll return to Germany early next year for a special reunion.
“It’s pencilled in for Munich, in February, 2010,” said Richy this week.
“I can’t wait.”

Said Richy: “I really didn’t know what to expect when I went out there, but what actually happened was beyond my wildest dreams.
“It was brilliant from start to finish.”
