SAUCY new adult gift store Lovelust is the place that everyone in Kilmarnock has been talking about this week.
From the moment the fetching pink sign was erected outside the West George street shop on Friday, Lovelust has been the word on everyone’s lips.
Owner Claire McCormack hopes to spice up the town’s shopping experience with an array of sexy gifts, toys and novelty items.
But she insists Lovelust is not a sex shop.
Mum of one Claire, 32, said: “I am a beauty therapist to trade but I wanted to do something a little bit different.
“I had a think about what Kilmarnock was missing and what the town needed and realised that there isn’t an adult gift store within 20 miles.
“People have to go to Glasgow to buy the things that we sell, but not any more.
“It’s a bit of fun and I’m sure it will brighten things up in the town.
“There’s nothing pornographic at all at Lovelust, there’s nothing sleazy about the shop.
“It’s very sophisticated.”
Lovelust will also specialise in catering for stag and hen parties and Kilmarnock woman Claire hopes anyone with any reservations will visit the shop, which is due to open soon.
She said: “I’m sure some people will be concerned but I’d say to them they are welcome to come and have a look around and they will soon see that this is not a sex shop.
“So far, I have had nothing but positive feedback from people walking by and the other local shopkeepers.”
The shop is set to open in the week that Kilmarnock was named East Ayrshire’s sexiest town by the UK Sex Map at www.uksexmap.co.uk
The Sex Map says that Kilmarnock is also the 276th sexiest place in the UK, with residents spending 1.2 times the national average on their sex lives each year.
It claims that people in Kilmarnock are splashing out on a selection of sexy treats including lingerie, erotic books and naughty gifts and games.
