SLIMMING mum Laura Brown didn’t want five stone of flab to stop her from playing with her daughter.
Laura shed the weight so she could run about the garden with four-year-old Emma without being in pain.
And the primary school teacher is finally confident she will keep the weight off for good after trying various diets – only to always fall back into bad habits.
The 41-year-old said: “Since losing the weight, I have more energy and feel more mobile.
“I can run about after my wee girl as I no longer suffer from back pain or sore knees.”
The Fenwick woman dropped from 14 stones to nine stones in six months.
Laura, who is five feet tall, said: “Instead of squeezing in a size 20 I can walk into any high street store and pick up a size 12 off the rack knowing that it will fit.
“I am a teacher and the parents at school noticed and would comment on how well I have done and looked.
“It is nice because sometimes you forget what a huge accomplishment you have achieved.”
Laura, a self-confessed chocoholic, added: “I have always struggled with my weight and have been on every diet you can imagine but always fell off the wagon.”
The mum-of-one, who is married to John, 33, finally beat her bulge with the weight management programme LighterLife, which has classes in Ayr.
The programme, designed for people a stone or more overweight, is based on food packs.
LighterLife counsellor Maureen Bradley said: “I have operated in Ayr for the past four years successfully helping hundreds of people lose weight.”
She is now setting up a new class in Kilmarnock.
Information sessions about LighterLife are currently being held at the Bellfield Community Centre every Tuesday at 5.30pm.
