MSP Willie Coffey has called on employers to support the Scottish Government’s ‘adopt an apprentice’ scheme, aimed at helping apprentices made redundant because of the economic downturn.
Under the initiative companies can receive up to £2000 to take on apprentices whose training in interrupted when they are made redundant by other firms.
And the scheme is open to all industries and apprentices of all ages.
Said the SNP MSP for Kilmarnock and Loudoun: “Despite the current economic downturn, Scotland must continue to train its workforce.
“The ‘adopt an apprentice’ scheme can bring economic benefits to individuals and companies in Kilmarnock and Loudoun and help provide the skills Scotland needs for the future.”
