Ayrshire Supermodel winner models charity scarf

STUNNING Nicola Mitchell could hardly fail to look gorgeous draped in this beautiful scarf.

For this was one of her first assignments since she was crowned Ayrshire Supermodel 2008.

She teamed up with fundraiser Lorna Dempsey to show off the new limited edition scarf created to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Not content with raising a fantastic £57,000 for the charity and earning herself the title of Scottish Woman of Achievement earlier this year, Lorna, of Ayr, aims to keep the cash flowing in to their coffers.

She turned her hand to fashion design and produced the lambswool and angora scarf.

They come in various colours and cost £15 each – £2 of which will be donated to the charity.

The scarf is being produced by Ayr cashmere manufacturer Alex Begg and Co, where Lorna works as a production controller.

She said: “My committee are always trying to think of new ideas for fundraising and we designed the scarf together.

“The scarf shows our butterfly and ribbon logo for breast cancer research. They are a bit of luxury and make a perfect Christmas present.”

And her efforts won praise from Rowena Main, who is the area volunteer manager for the charity.

She said: “The Butterfly events committee are incredibly hard working and innovative.

“This new venture is a perfect example of their creativity and I’m sure it will lift their already impressive fundraising total even higher.”

The scarves are available from the Beggs shop in Viewfield Road, Ayr or from the order hotline on 01292 267615. www.but terfly-events.org
