KILMARNOCK resident Kristy Shepherd joined more than 60 enthusiastic cyclists at Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park to take part in the NSPCC’s Big Bike Ride.
Kristy – who teamed up with brother Ron, from Edinburgh, for the cycle which is in aid of ChildLine in Scotland– said: “We both really enjoyed ourselves.
“It was tough going up the hill and I stopped at the top to wait for Ron. He ended up zooming past me and beat me to the finish line. We’ll definitely be taking part again next year.”
The pair are now planning to take part in Pedal for Scotland later on this year.
Local NSPCC fundraising manager, Elaine Bailey, added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who have been involved in the Big Bike Ride. The ChildLine service is available to every child and young person across Scotland, no matter how big or small their worry is.
“The support we receive from local people through events like Big Bike Ride is enabling us to expand ChildLine in Scotland and answer even more calls from vulnerable young people who turn to us for support.”
