Kilmarnock Fitness Centre holds sponsored run

A SPONSORED run in memory of a member of Kilmarnock Fitness Centre who passed away from renal cancer raised a whopping £5456 for the Urology Department at Glasgow’s Gartnavel Hospital.

Elaine Knox was diagnosed in 2001 and started the annual 10k fun run to raise funds. After she died the gym continued the fun run in her name and this marked the eighth anniversary of the event.

Over 100 members took part in the run round the streets of Kilmarnock.

Gym manager Claire Stuart said: “It was an absolutely brilliant effort to raise this amount.

"Thank you so much to everyone who took part and all those who sponsored them. See you next year.” Claire is pictured handing the cheque over to Gartnavel’s Michael Aitchison, Elaine’s husband Alex Knox, her daughter Abby Cunningham and wee Harvey Cunningham.
