Karate: Champion wins are all relative

FIGHTERS from the Burakudo Shotokan Club in Kilmarnock picked up places in the final stage of the Scottish Karate Association’s grand prix held at Castlepark community centre in Irvine.

Adam Orr finished first, Tammy and Morven McLaughlin were fourth and James Morrison took fifth in their sections.

The club is affiliated with the SKA and WUKF and registered with NAKMAS. SKA president Bill Hair, 5th Dan WUKF, is a club instructor, along with Sensei Matt McLaughlin.

Kilmarnock classes are held at St Matthew’s Church in Grassyards Road on Sunday from 5.45pm to 6.45pm and Wednesday from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. Other classes are held at St Paul’s Church in Hurlford on Tuesday 6pm to 7pm and at Stewarton drama hall on Friday and Sunday 6pm to 7pm.

A new class will start at Crosshouse Parish Church on Friday, January 7, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
