Curling: Four Jug-gernauts!

THE Stewarton Heather curling team of David Mundell (skip) Tom Reid (third) David Reid (second) Douglas Reid (lead) won the Eglinton Jug for the second time.

The knockout competition attracted 32 teams to Ayr Ice Rink for the week, culminating in a very close final on Friday night.

Sorn were the opposition this time and after a tactical start, the teams were blank after two ends. They then proceeded to each score single shots before David slipped up in the sixth end to let the Sorn team edge in front.

He redeemed himself in the seventh, scoring a magnificent three to go back in front. The eighth and final end was under his control right from the start which put extra pressure on the opposition to make the shots.

Everything Sorn tried Stewarton equalled or bettered, so with the last stone to be played, Sorn tried to force an extra end by playing in off a wing stone.

Robert Clark, the Sorn skip, was millimetres away, one of the best shots of the night, but it was Stewarton's night and again they picked up the trophy, for the fifth time in the club’s history, and the third time Douglas has been on the winning team.
