SPRINGWATER Fishery (Dalrymple): Fly pond fishing extremely well with some great evening rises. Woody and Fergie from Irvine had a short evening session releasing 11 fish each. The Springwater evening catch and release ticket is still only £7.

Bait pond best catch this week goes to the Allardyce family from Airdrie who had a friendly competition with the ladies beating the men. Top catch was Julian with four fish for 10lb 11oz.

Coarse pond picking up a bit, for the silver fish small carp still not feeding.

PRESTWICK (Raith Reservoir): There were no records broken in last Wednesday’s fly only competition. As the experts were debating the possible causes, junior member Conner Reilly weighed in one brown and one rainbow caught on a yellow dancer for 3lbs 3oz securing him first place.

Second was Henry McConnell with one rainbow on a gold head hopper for 2lbs 3oz. Third was John Gibson, another junior member, with one rainbow on a black dandy longlegs for 1 lb 13oz. It’s a pity John caught his 6lb rainbow earlier in the week. Returns show the juniors are taking full advantage of the clubs youth policy. Jason Rae, Lewis Kerr among others doing well.

The week’s returns show best results have been in the evening. John Lothian had a bag limit but the best news was Lorraine’s two rainbow for 5lbs while partner Pinky also had two rainbow for 5lbs to break his duck. He should have taken some advice from the juniors at the start of the season not four months into it.

The club thank all those who attended Sunday’s work party especially the juniors John, Jason and Stephen.

Clubs and bus parties are more than welcome but in order that they are ensured a good day, they are asked to contact in advance.

Ticket outlets: Gamesport of Ayr, Newalls newsagents of Monkton, Pets Aquarium of Prestwick, Torbets of Kilmarnock and Wee Jimmy’s of Bank Street, Irvine.

HARELAW Trout Fishery: A truly memorable and incredible weekend’s fishing. The evening rises from Friday night onwards were the very best witnessed in three years. Thirty to forty fish per boat was the norm and floating lines and buzzers were all that were needed to guarantee phenomenal sport.

Jim Scott returned 40 fish. Kenny Gibson had 10 for over 40Ibs while Willie Leach and Davy Simmons had 54 fish between them. Stuart Morris and Gordon McNeil had 10 for 46Ibs including a six and eight pounder. Chris Lochrie returned 17 on snatchers, Joe Foye 11 on crunchers, Bobby Quinn 13 on Cdcs.

Biggest fish of the weekend and fish of the month came from Davy Anderson with a stunning 13Ib 10oz rainbow on a diawl bach. Two 7Ib browns were also caught and returned. Plenty of fish in the 4-7Ib range caught on buzzers and black lures.
