Figure skating: Another fine season for Galleon ice dancers

THE Galleon Ice Dance Figure Skating Club recently held their AGM which concluded another successful year for the club.

The committee thanked parents for their support and the children for their dedication. Throughout the year various skaters have represented the club at open competitions and passed novice level tests.

The club have held various successful events which have included: a pantomime trip and Christmas ice party which the children have enjoyed.

In April, five skaters, Hayley Orr (Level 2 Ladies); Natalie Houstoun (Level 2 Ladies); Mikayla Stalker (Level 1 Ladies); Eilidh Cuthbertson (Beginners Ladies) and Sophie Bain (Beginners Ladies) represented the club at Kyle Open.

The skaters all did the club proud and Natalie Houstoun was placed second in her group.

In March the club held their Spring Competition at the Galleon Centre. Overall more than 60 skaters competed.

The results were as follows: Grades 1 to 3 Ladies: 1 Rosie Yates; 2 Leah McFarland; 3 Megan Colquan.

Grades 1 to 3 men’s : 1 Sean Houston; 2 Thomas Mangan. Grades 4 to 6 ladies: 1 Louise Lang; 2 Iona Scott; 3 Rachel Cuthbertson. Grades 4 to 6 Mens: 1 Scott McCain.

Grades 7 to 8: 1 Kira Sinforiani; 2 Emily Taylor; 3 Nicole Wales. Grades 9 to10: 1 Sharon Sloan; 2 Evie Bartl; 3 Megan McAllister.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Star Awards: 1 Eilidh Cuthbertson; 2 Sophie Bain; 3 Laura McIntyre

Level One ladies: 1 Mikayla Stalker. Level Two ladies: 1 Ailie McKnight; 2 Zoe Breignan; 3 Hayley Orr;

In May the club held their Skate UK Tests with a 100 per cent pass mark.

The club train on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm; on Friday from 4pm to 7pm and on Saturday from 9am to 11am at the Galleon Centre.
