Latest Ayrshire fishing: December 18

COYLE Water Fishery (Coylton): A quiet week due to the icy spell of weather kept anglers wrapped up indoors. The aerator and perseverance from staff kept most of the fly pond open all week and for those who did fish good sport was to be had.

Friday night saw torrential downpours putting the fly pond up by four inches and colouring the water badly, this really seemed to switch the fish on. On Saturday, Sonik Sports had a demo day at the fishery with accuracy, distance and a two hour format competition. A total of 17 anglers turned out, 11 fished the two hour competition and 37 fish were captured with an average weight of 3.7lbs.

Kevin Andrews won both distance and accuracy comps. The two hour competition was won by Hugh Munro with eight fish. The two weighed in came to the scales at 6lbs 12oz. Kenny Barry was second with five fish. Pat Rock was third with six.

There are still some places left for the Boxing Day four hour fun competition at 10am. Call 01292 571291.
