MIDDLETON: Fishing been good most of the week with most fish coming to dries.

Catches: J Boylan had 4 fish for 11lb 5oz and released 5, W Munn had 2 fish for 6lb 8oz, R McGregor had 3 fish for for 9lb 2oz, A Anderson had 2 fish for 5lb, K Lynch had 4 fish for 10lb 3oz, A Hall had 4 fish for 9lb 2oz, A Gardener had 2 fish for 6lb 8oz, D Beattie had 4 fish for 8lb 15oz, I Stewart had 4 fish for 11lb.

Catch and release: R Williamson released 12, J Boylan released 8, R Sambells released 6, J Wilson released 5, S Cockburn released 6, S McLeod released 6, S Milne released 3, S Jackson released 10.

Flies: Black Beetle, Black cdc, Humpy, Yellow Owl, Pink Bloodworm, Pink Blob, Pink Booby.

Competition: The catch and release competition held on Sunday was won by Arthur Wilkie with 9 fish, 2nd was Thomas White with 4, 3rd was Robbie Williamson with 3. COYLE WATER: Fishing not at its very best with massive hatches of very tiny black flies which the fish seem to be pre-occupied with and feeding for the majority of time on these.

Early mornings up until 11.30am or noon being best times to ensure full bag limits with other times although fishing well are a little more challenging.

Tam Muir had three fish on catch and release, Billy Testo released three. Jackie Pride took one for 2lbs 8oz and released 3. Mr Birtsoa took 2 for 5lbs 4oz. Mr Birnie from Dunblane had one for 3lbs. Mr Galashan from Aberdeen took 1 for 3lbs 4oz. Regular Ian Muncie managed 8 over two early morning visits. Mr Haggerty took 2 for 5lbs 6oz.

Next episode in the never-ending story of friends Davy and Ian took a turn for the better with Davy having 10 this week to Ian’s 1 fish.

Best flies and tactics this week have been floating line setups teamed with buzzers of various colours, hot head damsels have also done well, dries will entice the fish but actual takes are few and far between, a little more rain will bring levels up to normal and fishing will be much improved.

The Heartstone Club from Glasgow visited and had a most enjoyable day taking a total of 64lbs of fish between them.

On the bait fishing has been good and consistent all week with nearly everyone leaving with bag limits. Mr Slade from East Kilbride took 4 fish for 7lbs 4oz. Mr Brown from Stevenston had 3 for 6lbs. Mr Hay had 3 for 5lbs. Mr McDonald from Ayr took 3 for 6lbs 8oz. J McCafferty took 3 for 5lbs.

Best tactics have been to fish with a bubble and fish with your bait at around 3ft 6 inches from the surface, power bait has been the most consistent with worms doing well also.

LAWFIELD Trout Fishery: Perseverance has been the order of this week due to the weather conditions with best catches last thing at night. Mr Lyon 1 for 5lbs 10oz, Mr Down 4 for 8lbs 8oz, Mr Robertson 2 for 4lbs 8oz and Eddie McWilliams 2 for 6lbs 12oz. Mr Turner 7 on C&R, Mr Matthews 8 and Dean Monaghan 20 up to 6lbs 8oz. Best flies include tiny buzzers, hares ear shuttlecock, redhead damsel, stimulator and ethafoam beetle. Contact Billy on 01505 874182.

BURNS Trout Fishery: The fishery will be holding a Junior Open Competition (under 16s) Sponsored Scottish Fishing Tackle (fly or bait) on Saturday, July 25, at 9am to 3.30pm and will cost £15, four fish limit, heaviest bag wins. Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

The winner of the end of month catch and release competition was Alex Bowler winning himself £100, 2nd place went to Laurie Robb winning £40, 3rd place went to Kevin Andrews winning £20. The next C/R competition will be held on Friday, July 25. Contact pond on 07904469707 for details.
