KILMARNOCK hosted Cartha 3rd XV in a rearranged league game on Saturday knowing that a win would take them to the top of the league.
Andrew Hamilton opened the scoring with a break from the half-way line Kyle Pearson converted.
Cartha replied almost immediately, but missed the conversion 7-5 in Killie’s favour.
Man of the match Ivor Fraiter scored two quick tries, one of which Pearson converted to extend Killie’s lead to 19-5.
Cartha scored on the half-time whistle 19-10 at the break. With the wind at their backs Cartha came flying out the traps and scored a try another try again the kick was missed.
Kilmarnock responded through Willie Bark, and a missed conversion left the score at 24-17, with 20 minutes to play.
Cartha scored again narrowing the gap to two points 24-22, but that man Fraiter popped up and sealed the win with a fine try which Pearson converted. Final score 31-22.
