FENWICK were knocked out of the EDF Energy Ayrshire Cup second round 4-2 by Glenmuir at Lugar on Saturday.
Gary Wright nodded in an Ally Wyper corner to put Fenwick ahead after only two minutes.
The lead was shortlived as Glenmuir equalised, spotting a gap in the defence minutes later.
Another defensive mix up saw Glenmuir take the lead.
Fenwick didn’t sit back as John McLean chipped over and a Mick Kennedy cross was knocked away. Another McLean effort lacked power and was easily held by the keeper .
Alan Deane then made a great save but soon after Fenwick fell further behind .
Fenwick had more purpose in the second half with a Scott Johnstone chance before Derek Bonds went close twice.
A good move involving Murray England and McLean forced a Glenmuir defender to head over .
But Glenmuir still looked dangerous on the break.
Johnstone ran half the length of the park to grab a goal back for Fenwick on 68 minutes.
Four minutes later, Glenmuir were awarded a penalty scoring from the spot.
Despite Fenwick’s best efforts, including the ball coming back off the crossbar then the post, there was no further scoring .
The club want to thank Thistle Cabs for their support this season.
