DARVEL’S last game of the season proved to be a bit of a damp squib.
After waiting for a referee to turn up the game kicked off half an hour late and after a busy opening spell, Darvel seemed to fall flat.
Assistant manager Alan Beveridge said he didn’t want to be too hard on the players after a cracking season – the best for the Recreation Park side in recent memory.
He added: “It was just one of those things, we’ve waited a while for this game to be played, then it kicked off late. I think the guys were a bit deflated to be honest.”
Craigmark’s only goal came midway through the first half, and apart from another busy spell towards the end of the game when Darvel were pushing for an equaliser, there wasn’t much in the way of action.
Alan added: “We’re already looking forward to next season to build on what we’ve achieved this year.
“We are looking at bringing in two or three new players to strengthen the squad and hopefully we’ll be contenders for promotion next year.”
