Hurlford Utd forced to field skeleton team

HURLFORD United could only muster a skeleton team last Thursday night to face Lanark away from home.

The Blair Park outfit were 10 players short – eight were missing due to work commitments and two were out injured.

Unfortunately this showed in the result and they were soundly beaten 4-1, with Ryan Caddis scoring the consolation goal in the first half.

Manager John Crawford said: “This fixture was really difficult for us as most of our players were at work. Conditions were difficult too and all these factors led to a defeat for us.”

This Saturday Hurlford face Kilsyth away from home and host Clydebank on Wednesday, May 20, in what will be the final game of a dismal season.

Darvel meanwhile finish their season on Saturday with an away fixture against Craigmark.

A ‘ROCK FOR FORD’ mini-festival is taking place at Fanny By Gaslight in Kilmarnock this weekend.

The fun kicks off on Friday, May 15, with Big Licks, who will be performing from approximately 9.30pm.

On Saturday there will be a rock karaoke with Tofi starting at 8.30pm, with lucky dip prizes for every singer to be won.

On Sunday from 7pm, live bands including The Culprits and Newo Ikkin will entertain.

Entry over the weekend is free, but all monies raised from the raffles, the food and the donation bucket will go to Hurlford United funds.
