Killie brushed aside Stranraer at Stair Park on Sunday for a spot in the third round of the Scottish Youth Cup.
Killie dominated early possession and took the lead on 19 minutes through Robbie Muirhead’s turn-and-shot before Chris Johnston’s wing wizardy set up Ross Davidson to the visitors’ second of the match.
Ross Barbour forced an own goal from the toiling Stranraer defence to make it 3-0 but the hosts reduced the deficit with a deflected effort.
Killie responded immediately when Thomson netted the fourth from a cross from the right.
After 57 minutes, Stranraer were given hope when Lee Ashcroft headed a cross into his own net but Mark Taylor made it safe with two further goals for Killie in the last 10 minutes.
Kilmarnock are drawn away to Gala Fairydean in the third round.
●Killie beat St Johnstone 3-2 at McDiarmid Park in the Under-20s league last week.
