YOUNG Killie, the football club’s official young supporters club, is back on track after a few difficult months.
The club came under the football club’s control in May after a split in the committee and the resignation of several committee members.
But now, the remaining committee members, who have maintained a dignified silence throughout the row, have joined forces with the football club to keep the Young Killie going.
Previously the committee were told by chairman Michael Johnston, at a meeting back in May that they could either join the club’s new young supporters club or set up their own club, without using the Killie name.
But when the committee members were approached to open dialogue with the club again, they agreed and after a meeting last Thursday, an agreement was reached.
A spokesman for the Young Killie said: “The Young Killie has faced some challenging times recently, however, in close conjunction with Kilmarnock Football Club, the difficulties have been overcome.
“The Young Killie Committee would like to express their thanks to all the parents for their support through the recent upheaval and hope, that together with involvement from Kilmarnock Football Club, Brownings the Bakers and the Killie Trust, as well as parent helpers and coaches the Young Killie will remain the best young supporters club around.”
The initial joining day for season 2009-10 will, as normal, be Kilmarnock Football Club’s open day on Sunday, August, 9, and there will also be the opportunity to join at Powerleague when the Saturday Morning Club returns on Saturday, August 15.
