Killie FC get vital win against St Mirren

KILMARNOCK gave themselves a huge lift by beating strugglers St Mirren at Rugby Park last night.

The hosts took the lead after just 22 minutes as Kevin Kyle got his head onto Mehdi Taouil's cross.

The big striker - who has really added goals to the Ayrshire club's season since joining in January - then nabbed a second early in the second half.

St Mirren - who now sit at the bottom of the league after last night's result - got a consolation through Craig Dargo right at the death.

Killie FC now have it in their own hands whether they manage to stay in the SPL this year. They jumped up to eighth last night after the victory and now have 38 points.

This is four more than bottom side St Mirren with only two games to play.

Killie host Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday when a point should be enough to ensure safety.

For all the action and reaction from that game, see this week's Kilmarnock Standard which is on sale from Wednesday evening.
