SAM KENNEDY of Saltcoats was elected president of the Ayrshire Bowling Association for 2012 at the 117th AGM. Alex Pirrie (Ayr BC) is vice-president.
David Houston, secretary/treasurer for the last 11 years, retired from office and was replaced by George McGregor (Springhill).
Two new directors were elected in Alan Law (Seafield) and Willie McVey (Girdle Toll). Iain McIlwraith (Girvan), and Gordon Woods (Auchinleck) were re-elected while David Houston (Ardrossan) and Robert McCormick (Dundonald) were elected to fill the other two vacancies on the board.
Hurlford BC will move from the east district to the west and Girdle Toll from the west to the north. Both of these moves made geographical sense and were passed with no dissenting voice.
Two additional championships will be played in 2012 for the first time, senior singles and senior pairs.
The Association is grateful to honorary president John Sommerville and new secretary George McGregor for donating cups for each competition.
