GLENFIELD Bowling Club hosted a highly successful charity day on Saturday, June 29, with the proceeds going to various cancer charities and support groups, such as Cancer Support, McMillan Nurses and Cancer Research.
The event was organised by Jackie, Suzanne and Marion from ward 2C Crosshouse Hospital, and supported by the patrons of Kay Park Tavern, bowling club members, and friends.
Gents president Jimmy Lundie coordinated the event and his wife Mima and her team organised the catering. Many thanks go to all who gave their generous support, and contributed in many ways to what turned out to be a very worthwhile fun day that was enjoyed by all.
Approximately £1700 has been raised to date from this event, and the organisers have other fund raising events in the pipe-line at different venues later this year.
The winner of the Campbell Edgar Trophy was Rab McCulloch, with runner-up Charlotte Gourlay. Many thanks go to the family of the late Campbell Edgar for their sponsorship of this competition. T
he ladies fixture last Sunday at Dunlop Bowling Club was enjoyed by all, with the host club having the edge on the visitors. Symington Bowling Club hosted the ladies’ annual fixture last Thursday, and this time Glenfield had the shots advantage.
Thanks go to both host clubs for two enjoyable games and for their hospitality.
The gents will play against Kay Park Bowling Club on Saturday, and the seniors will play against Kay Park seniors on Wednesday, July 23, and both games are at Kay Park. The mixed pairs competition is scheduled for Sunday, starting at 9.30am.
