The Kilmarnock Harriers Athletics Club’s 125th birthday race night went with a big BANG.
A total of 290 runners were treated to a firework display as they sprinted towards the finish line at the town’s Ayrshire Athletics Arena.
The fireworks were set off as a surprise by member Ian Gebbie during the anniversary event.
Some 160 juniors competed in a 1.25k run started by Provost Jim Todd. Willie Hamilton, of sponsors Hamilton Tarmac, had the honour of setting off 130 seniors on a 1.25-mile course.
Other sponsors were East Ayrshire Council, Sweatshop, Tunnocks, bakers W.R & H Kelly and Darceys.
The current and former Harriers involved on the night were awarded a special commemorative medal.
Like any good birthday party, the members also enjoyed a buffet with cakes.
Eddie Tonner, of the club’s 125th anniversary committee, said: “There was a massive turnout from members. It was a fantastic club and community event.”
