Kilmarnock FC: Killie boss targets the Dons

Boss Kenny Shiels has been feeling hard ‘Don’ by lately but will be out to beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie this Saturday.

He has seen his side slip to ninth in the table after league defeats against St Johnstone and Celtic.

The Rugby Park men, who have a game in hand, missed suspended skipper Manuel Pascali in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to the SPL leaders.

Shiels, who had threatened to play the Italian despite a failed SFA appeal, said: “It wasn’t easy as Celtic had international players on the pitch and the bench but we had lost our captain through suspension.

“It will be good to have Pascali back for this Saturday.”

Shiels, who has two SFA charges pending, was due to have a meeting with the Hampden chiefs along with other SPL bosses over better communication between clubs and the governing body.

Liam Kelly is also back in action after suffering a shoulder knock as Killie seek to avenge the 2-1 Dons defeat at home back in October.

Craig Brown’s men are currently sitting fourth in the table.

● Killie will face Inverness CT in the Scottish Cup fifth round after Terry Butcher’s men beat Ross County 2-1 in a replay on Tuesday night.

The tie is due to be played at Rugby Park on February 2/3.

● Killie Under-20s league match game away to Hamilton was postponed on Tuesday night following a pitch inspection. The young side are due to face Dunfermline at home this Tuesday.

● Killie fans without their own seat at the Theatre of Pies can snap up a half season ticket for Christmas.

There are nine home games, before the SPL split, still to be played starting with Hearts on Boxing Day.
