Rangers 1 Kilmarnock 5 Scottish FA Youth Cup
Killie are through to the last eight of the Scottish Youth Cup after an emphatic 5-1 win over Rangers at Murray Park on Sunday.
It was a case of ‘‘Rory, Rory Ayrshire Killie” as Rory McKenzie scored four and Rory McKeown also got on the scoresheet.
McKenzie drilled home from 12 yards for the opener and then Lee Ashcroft made a great block to keep Rangers out.
On 23 minutes, McKenzie doubled the lead with a superb curling 20 yarder.
The rest of the half was even with Chris Johnston having a couple of good efforts before Rangers blazed over with the last kick of the half.
After the break, keeper Devlin McKay pulled off a good save before Rory bagged his hat-trick on 62 minutes firing a great Jude Winchester through ball low past the keeper.
Two minutes later, Rangers pulled a goal back from the spot.
McKenzie then scored his fourth with a tremendous solo effort and Rory McKeown drilled home from 20 yards for goal number five.
Team: McKay, Barbour, Ashcroft, O’Hara, McKeown, Davidson, Slater, Winchester, Johnston, Taylor (Muirhead 76), McKenzie (McNeil 88).
Killie will face either Livingston or Cowdenbeath in the quarter-finals due to be played in February.
