Kilmarnock FC: Fans put community buyout on the agenda

A KILLIE fans’ group is holding a meeting about a community buyout of the club after Saturday’s game.

Kilmarnock Supporters’ Society Ltd (Killie Trust) are inviting fans to the special meeting in the Park Hotel’s Dean Suite at 5.15pm.

Barry Richmond, the Trust’s chairman, said: “Community ownership has always been an objective of the Kilmarnock Supporters’ Society Ltd.

“It has become clear that this must be the main focus of the Trust’s efforts for the foreseeable future.

“The events in Scottish football over the course of last season have proven that community ownership is the best, if not only, way forward for clubs like ours.”

He added: “Our primary objective therefore will now be to raise the finance required to bring Kilmarnock Football Club into community ownership.

“The only way we can control the destiny of our club is to have the majority say on how it is run.

“This meeting has been called to discuss this course of action with Trust members, no other business will be entered into at this time.
