THE clock was turned back 100 years at Loudoun Gowf Club to start the week of special events organised to mark the 100th anniversary of the formation of the club in 1909.
A unique competition involving the use of old-fashioned hickory shafted clubs and dressing up in Edwardian costumes proved very popular with all who participated.
Brassies, cleeks, niblicks and mashies were issued to all competitors, most of whom had never heard of these names of clubs, and many people played surprisingly well with them over this eight hole competition.
The ladies’ winner was Margaret Hendrie and the men’s competition was won by Alan Johnstone.
