Cinema: Remakes are this week’s big releases with The A Team and Karate Kid

EVERYONE’S favourite fugitives are back and on the big screen in The A Team (12A).

Starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as Hannibal, Faceman, Murdock and BA.

The ‘A’ grade action sees a group of Special Forces soldiers, set up for a crime they did not commit, escaping from a maximum-security unit and going on the run as soldiers for hire.

Will Smith’s son Jaden is the Karate Kid (PG).

He plays Dre Parker, a 12-year-old whose mother’s new job takes him from Detroit to China.

When Dre makes an enemy of the class bully, Cheng, he quickly finds that his limited karate skills won’t cut it.

He turns to maintenance man Mr Han – who happens to be a master of Kung Fu – who prepares him for the fight of his life.

Catherine Zeta-Jones hooks up with a toy boy in the romantic comedy The Rebound (15).

When her hubby cheats on her, 40-year-old Sandy (Zeta-Jones) starts a new life in New York with her two young children.

She starts a romance with 25-year-old Aram (Justin Bartha) but a relationship on the rebound is never easy.

The toys are out of the box as Woody, Buzz and the gang return to the big screen in the 3D Toy Story 3 (U).

As Andy is about to leave for college, the toys find themselves in day care and at the mercy of untrained tots who like to play rough.

Now they must escape, and joining them are a bunch of new characters including Barbie’s boyfriend Ken (Michael Keaton), hedgehog Mr Pricklepants (Timothy Dalton) and a teddy called Lots o’ Huggin’ Bear (Ned Beatty).

Shrek Forever After 3D (U) is the fourth and final part of the Shrek saga.

For an ogre, Shrek’s life has been pretty eventful from challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess to saving his in-laws’ kingdom.

This time, he finds himself in an alternate world where ogres are hunted, Rumplestiltskin is king and Fiona is nowhere to be found. Shrek has to put things right.
