SOME of the youngest members of Kilmarnock’s Centrestage training theatre will this month stage their first full-scale production.
Forty youngsters aged between 10 and 11 will take to the stage in the hit musical ‘Bugsy Malone’.
From the highs of ‘Fat Sam’s Grand Slam’ to the lows of the street urchins and ‘Down and Outs’, the musical is packed full of catchy songs and slapstick comedy.
Set in New York, two gangsters and their gangs go head to head over a new development in custard-firing weaponry. Nice guy Bugsy Malone finds himself in the thick of it all while trying to woo Blousey Brown, a singer at Fat Sam’s Speakeasy. Luckily for everyone – including the audience – bullets are replaced by custard pies and splurge guns.
The cast will be the youngest ever to put on a full scale production at Centrestage.
Centrestage musical director Fiona McKenzie said: “The P6/7 music theatre cast are proving that they can put on a highly polished performance.
“Their dedication to the show has been unbelievable and all the team at Centrestage are excited to see how they perform over the three shows over May 30 and 31.”
The ‘Bugsy Malone’ cast will be performing on Saturday, May 30, at 2pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £8/£6. Group deals are available.
