STEWARTON Drama Group are hard at work rehearsing for their forthcoming production of Amanda Whittington’s hit comedy ‘Ladies Day’.
The show hits the stage at Stewarton Area Centre at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 28, Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.
The play tells the story of fish factory workers Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda and their unlikely outing to Ladies’ Day at Ascot.
The foursome, who are themselves fish out of water, are absolutely determined to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity to mix it with the aristocracy, but it turns out that they spend more time mixing with dubious ticket tout, Fred (Johnnie McPherson), suicidal Irish jockey, Patrick (Jim Goldie), drunken punter, Kevin (Roy Graham), lost love, Barry (David Robertson) and sleazy tic-tac man, Jim (Walter Findlay) – who bears an uncanny resemblance to Channel 4 racing pundit John McCririck !
The show’s director Nancy McPherson said: “Ladies Day is a sparkling, contemporary comedy which offers adventures and startling revelations and most importantly is guaranteed to have the audience smiling from start to finish. You could say it’s a real winner in its field.
“The perfect girls night-out play, and just as enjoyable for couples and families, this ultimate feel-good show really does have something for everyone.”
Tickets, priced at £6 each, are on sale now at Stewarton Library and Candy Chace in the town’s High Street. They can also be reserved by e-mailing stewartondramagroup@hotmail.co.uk
