Man killed while felling trees

A 29-year-old man has been killed while felling trees on a farm, say police.

The man was working at Auchendorie Farm near Kirriemuir in Angus at 1.45pm when the incident happened. It is understood he was crushed by a tree.

Police and an ambulance crew were scrambled to the scene.

Equipment on the farm was used to release the man from under the tree but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the police said: "There was an industrial accident which was fatal. It resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man at Auchendorie Farm near Kirriemuir.

"A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
