Small city hotel voted UK's best

An Edinburgh hotel has been voted the UK's best by a popular travel website.

TripAdvisor awarded Chester Residence in the west end the top spot in its small hotel category.

The hotel, run by Graham and Gillian Wood, consists of five apartments in the city's Chester Street and a further 18 in Rothesay Place.

It ranked 11th in the world in TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice awards

Mr Wood said: "This is testimony to the efforts of our fantastic team who work hard to ensure each guest has a unique and memorable stay.

"Our secret is simply that we look after our guests very well."

TripAdvisor is the world's largest travel website, featuring reviews and comments, with around 75 million users.
