OAP dies in collision near hospital

An elderly woman has died in a collision with a car near a hospital.

The 81-year-old woman was crossing Porterfield Road at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh at around 4pm on Tuesday when the accident happened.

She was treated at the scene but died from her injuries, Lothian and Borders Police said.

The force said the driver was helping with the inquiry and officers were appealing for witnesses who saw the accident, which happened near the hospital's Anne Ferguson Building.
