A woman has died following a crash involving a car and a van, police said.
The fatal collision happened on Saturday morning on the A96 near the Peregrine Falcon Centre in Huntly, Aberdeenshire.
Grampian Police said they were called to the two-vehicle crash at around 10.40am.
The female driver of the car suffered fatal injuries, while the male driver of the van had minor injuries. Their ages have not yet been revealed.
The woman will not be named until her next of kin have been informed.
Police said nobody else was involved in the crash. An accident investigation is under way.
A force spokesman said: "The A96 is presently closed at this location to allow investigations to take place and will remain so for some time. Diversions are in place to facilitate these investigations."
Meanwhile, a 68-year-old man suffered a head injury after being struck by a car in Montrose, Angus.
Police were called to the incident on Baltic Street just after 1pm on Saturday. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said: "We are carrying out a full crash investigation at the scene."
