Caffeine limit in booze considered

Labour was launching a new commission which will look at ways of tackling alcohol abuse and reducing the amount of caffeine in drinks such as the controversial tonic wine Buckfast.

The Alcohol Commission will consider a range of measures to deal with the country's drinking culture.

Its remit includes examining the application and enforcement of existing legislation, finding new approaches to tackling alcohol abuse and anti-social behaviour stemming from it, and advising on alternative pricing mechanisms.
