Couple held on island over drugs

A British man and woman, believed to be from Glasgow, have been arrested in the Dominican Republic on suspicion of drug trafficking, the Foreign Office has said.

Kelly Carrigan and Daniel Patterson were reportedly detained at Punta Cana airport as they were about to return home.

The Foreign Office was unable to confirm reports that the woman's two sons, aged five and seven, had been taken into care at an orphanage.
