Grange Academy actors prepare for Oliver musical

YOUNG actors from Kilmarnock’s Grange Academy have been treading the boards at rehearsals for the school’s stage production of the hit musical Oliver.

And they gave a sneak preview of what to expect when they performed two songs at the East Ayrshire School Showcase at Kilmarnock’s Palace Theatre last week.

Tickets are now on sale for the main event which takes place at Grange Academy on Monday, June 22, Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24.

Drama teacher Lesley Smith said preparations for the show are going well. She said: “I think the audience will get a nice surprise when they see the show. It’s a modern take on the staging of Oliver and the pupils have been working very hard in rehearsals.

“It will be our first big production since moving to the new campus.”

Grange Academy wanted to thank Poppelwells Costume Hire in Ayr for providing costumes for the principal characters.
