East Ayrshire schoolgirls land parts in The Wizard of Oz

TWO talented schoolgirls have landed dream roles in The Wizard of Oz.

Aimee Clint, of Kilmarnock, and Katie Baker, of Mauchline, will take to the stage in the Kings Theatre, Glasgow, next week.

Aimee, eight, and Katie, nine, won the parts of munchkins in the Orpheus Club production because of their singing and dancing talent.

Both girls attend the Centrestage Music Theatre in James Little Street, Kilmarnock.

They recently starred as Royal children in Kilmarnock Amateur Operatic Society’s production of The King and I performed at the town’s Palace Theatre.

Aimee, a pupil at Mount Carmel Primary School, was too young to audition for the Wizard of Oz but wowed the judges.

Her proud mum Claire said: “She was over the moon to get the part because it combines her love of singing and dancing.”

The girls will be on stage for the evening performances next Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
