PUPILS ditched the classroom in favour of doing maths lessons at the Burns Mall in Kilmarnock recently.
Mall bosses taught students about business, retail, wage bills, marketing and the centre’s service charges.
Scott Darroch, the mall’s manager, hopes the Maths in the Mall project will teach pupils the importance of numbers in the real world.
Mr Darroch said: “It is vital that pupils practice and develop mathematics in the classroom but it is also essential for pupils to understand that mathematics are used in virtually all walks of life.”
Pupils from all over Ayrshire took part in the project.
