PUPILS from Kilmarnock Academy are among the stars of a new permanent gallery opening at Edinburgh’s National Museum of Scotland this week.
Scotland, a Changing Nation will feature a wide range of exhibits and artefacts illustrating all aspects of life in Scotland.
Among a number of films in the exhibition is one featuring academy pupils describing what life in Scotland means to them.
The new gallery has five central themes: war, emigration, industry, politics and entertainment.
Social history will rub shoulders with contemporary culture; Scotland’s industrial past will be celebrated alongside its modern future, and everything will be brought to life through poetry, literature, film, music and interactivity.
Said a Scottish Museums spokeswoman: “This gallery will resonate with everyone, provoke thought, inspire debate and leave a lasting impression that Scottish culture has been created in Scotland from the stories of people who lived and worked here.”
