A77 death crash driver escapes jail term

A MOTORIST who caused an accident which claimed the life of a passenger in the van he was driving was last week placed on probation for a year at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Kenneth Wilson, 29, of Ayr, previously pleaded guilty to driving carelessly on the A77 near the Meiklewood interchange, Kilmarnock, and colliding with a parked vehicle in a layby.

He also admitted charges of driving while disqualified and without insurance on the same occasion.

Wilson was banned from the road for three years.
