A man detained in a police operation which involved the scrambling of a helicopter was found to have an illegal lock-knife
Johnnie Douglas, 19, of Kerr Road, Kilmarnock, pleaded guilty to having a knife in the town’s MacKellar place on Saturday.
Scott Toal, prosecuting, told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court that police were responding to a report of a male with a firearm in the town’s New Farm Loch area.
He said: “Officers arrived and approached the accused.
“He was detained and an officer found he had a lock-knife with a four-inch blade in the pocket of his hooded top.”
Douglas told police that he had the knife as “a gift for a sibling”.
Sheriff Brian Murphy deferred sentence until February 25 and called for reports.
