A MAN who had cocaine with a street value of up to £25,000 in his Kilmarnock home has been jailed for two years.
Kilmarnock Sheriff Court previously heard that Robert Nimmo, 31, let a gang of drug dealers he called “the Liverpool boys” use his flat in Gillsburn Gardens.
Nimmo admitted being concern-ed in the supply of the class A drug in February this year.
Katie McColl, prosecuting, said that police were already searching the flat when Nimmo turned up at the rented property.
Police found 247 grammes of cocaine in a drawstring bag in the bedroom.
When Nimmo was asked who it belonged to, he replied: “I haven’t a clue.”
And after being asked who was the owner of a set of scales and roll of polythene bags, he said: “I think they are the Liverpool boys’.”
Police asked why they would be in Nimmo’s house and he told them: “It’s being used by other people. I don’t know.”
Interviewed at Kilmarnock police station, Nimmo revealed that the use of the flat was “part of a deal he had struck with certain people”.
Said Miss McColl: “They forked out the deposit and paid a month’s rent.”
In return, she said, Nimmo kept out the way when they had “business” to do.
She told the court: “He stated he knew people would be selling drugs and storing drugs there.”
When Nimmo was asked if he was assisting them, he responded: “I suppose I could have stopped them from being there. I don’t like the word assist because I don’t like having anything to do with this.”
A total of 750 grammes of cocaine – with a value of between £16,000 and £25,000 – was recovered from the flat.
