Shop, shop! The big day’s nearly here

FIVE weeks to go until Christmas.

But just ONE WEEK to the big switch-on that will bring instant festive cheer to Kilmarnock town centre.

Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus, left, will be the star attraction at the start of the countdown to Christmas events on Sunday, November 30.

And because that’s St Andrew’s Day the Kilmarnock Standard will be handing out 2000 Saltires to the kids.

Look out also for haggis and neep pies, stovies and hog roast on sale around The Cross.

The giant street party starts at 2pm and the switch-on by provost Stephanie Young is at 4.30pm.
