Fenwick mums given top reward for charity effort

FOUR mums were each rewarded with a kiss from hunky rugby hero Kenny Logan for winning a charity pentathlon.

The former Scotland international planted a smacker on Sharon Smyth, Nicola Booth, Kirsty Craig and Emma Bone for being the fastest team to finish Logan’s Challenge pentathlon.

The Fenwick mums completed a 5km run, 15km cycle, mind and skill tests and an assault course at Strathclyde Park near Motherwell in a time of 57 minutes and four seconds.

And they raised £1000 for charity in the process.

The pentathlon was in aid of Sparks, a charity funding medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of illnesses affecting children.

Kenny, who is the charity’s co-president, was the inspiration for the Krypton Factor style sporting pentathlon which included throwing rugby balls at targets.

Nicola said: “The weather was miserable on the day of the pentathlon.

“It was cold, wet and windy but we all had a lot of laughs and have some funny stories that we’ll be telling for a long time to come.

“There weren’t many teams taking part but we came first and took home a trophy as well as a medal each and a kiss from Kenny Logan.”

Emma Bone joined the team a week before the pentathlon to replace Susan Donovan who fractured her elbow after she fell off her bike during a training session.

Nicola said: “We’d like to thank everyone for all their good wishes and for taking time to sponsor us.”
