A 58-year-old Kilmarnock man this week admitted possessing child pornography.
Colin Eaglesham, of Gargieston Road, pleaded guilty to having indecent images of children between October 2010 and March 2011.
Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard that Eaglesham’s home – which he shares with his wife and tenage son – was raided by police in April 2011.
Computer equipment was seized and a forensic analysis uncovered 133 indecent still images and five movies.
The court was told that all the images had been deleted from Eaglesham’s computer.
However, experts were able to discover the images had been created between the dates covered by the charge.
The pictures found were predominantly of girls aged between four and 12 years.
Sheriff Seith Ireland heard that the majority of the images were at the bottom of the five-category scale used to measure the severity of child pornography, although one was at the most serious level.
When Eaglesham was interviewed by police he admitted he was the main user of the computer and the only person who knew the password.
He admitted looking at indecent images and said he thought the children concerned were “about 12 years old or maybe younger”.
Sandy Currie, defending, said his client’s plea of guilty had been indicated to the prosecution last November.
Sheriff Ireland deferred sentence until February 19 and called for a criminal justice social work report.
Bail was continued.
